HOT&HOT

Goudsesingel 340A, 3011 KL Rotterdam, Netherlands

opening closing hours 12:30-22:00 (everyday weekends included)
It’s a hot pot restaurant, but my favourites are mushroom soup and tomato soup base with lotus fruit, different mushrooms and tofu as well as their DIY sauces
it’s a really nice place to go on a special occasion or just to hang out with a large group of friends because that’s the upside of a hot pot, there are an unlimited amount of portions. The food is nice and the atmosphere is lovely.

Soufflé cafe

Mariniersweg 80A, 3011 NT Rotterdam, Netherlands

opening closing hours 10:30-17:00 (everyday weekends included)
my favourite dish is their creme brûlée pancakes
It’s a very cute Japanese place, where you can go to have breakfast or dessert after a nice meal. Pancakes are light and fluffy and the atmosphere adds to the feeling of lightness.

Wunderbar

Boomgaardsstraat 71, 3012 XA Rotterdam, Netherlands

opening closing hours 17:00- 00:00 on from Monday till Thursday, 15:00 - 2:00 From Friday till Sunday
I might be biased because I work there, but I truly enjoy this place. If you are looking for a queer and alternative place to chill with your friends after school it’s a great place, there is always something happening from open mics to djs sets. Another thing that I enjoy the most is that their whole food menu is vegetarian/ vegan.
My favourite dish is vegan kapsalon, and from beer, I can recommend Blurry vision IPA

Papa jones
opening closing hours 16:00 till 23:00 (everyday weekends included)
I have never been inside because I always ordered from them, but they never failed to satisfy my nightly pizza cravings.
My favourite dish is vegetarian pizza with extra cheese.

Round&Round cafe

Hoogstraat 55A, 3011 PG Rotterdam, Netherlands

opening closing hours 12:00-17:00 on Wednesdays till Sunday closed on Mondays and Tuesdays
A very cute Japanese inspired cafe. The atmosphere is really cosy and welcoming.
My personal favourite is Taro Tweed, but everything on their menu is really delicious. All flavours are a bit more subtle, but I think it’s a good thing because it’s never too overwhelming

Kaapse maria 4 of 5
Just a Friday afternoon drink, catch up with a friend while enjoying a natural wine or have a nice dinner with your family. Everything is possible! Kaapse Maria is a noisy but very cozy place. Located in a beautiful building on the Mauritsweg. Lots of choice of unusual beers, too many to try them all in one visit. Reason enough to go back more often!

Roundabout 5 of 5
The biggest surprise in Rotterdam. The dishes are composed in such a special way. They are distinguished by the method of preparation of everything, such as smoked on coals or over wood. Each dish explained with great passion and pleasure, without that uncomfortable waiting feeling. The three boys, who are there 5 days a week, quickly make you feel at home. Definitely recommended!

La pizza 4 out of 5
The go to if you want to eat a tasty pizza. With two locations, they are soon close by. But you can also go here for a pasta or a delicious dessert. It is a friendly place where you can quickly grab a bite to eat during the week. But it is also a good place for extensive dining!

The sailor and the girl 4 out of 5
Highly recommended if you like French cuisine. They have a nice service with attention to the guest. The restaurant itself has a very homely atmosphere, which makes it very pleasant. Delicious dishes and matching wines. The menu is fixed and therefore every course is a surprise. It's a bit on the pricey side, but that's what you get. When the weather is nice, it is recommended to sit outside on the terrace.

Takumi 5 out of 5 Takuma is a nice and cozy place. Very nice service and a warm welcome. Here you will receive a clear explanation of the menu.
They have delicious fresh noodles and broths. Like being back in Japan. If you're looking for a tasty dinner, this is the place to be!
Brainstorming on Execution
Our idea was to work on networks of people to share reviews and informations about restaurant in the city.

We get this idea from the challenge of degooglising our lives.
At school we are many students with knowledge of the city and the places. We can find a way to collect these informations and share it with other students. It’s a way to avoid to use the google rate and reviews.

We will maybe use the tool hot glue to construct our network. The network could also work maybe with local servers. One of our idea was that it could be physically located in the school with a big map for example linked to a server.
Feedbacks from the tutors : we should use a physical or analog way to represent our network - because our purpose is to return to something which was paper based (reviews in paper news for example)

We could be inspired by graphical tricks to stock, visualize and comment informations (stickers - color chart - shapes..)

A yellow page book
+
-analog reviews (maybe not enough space)
-QR code that leads to reviews
+
-local network (can it store data?)

classifying restaurants as Italian/Chinese/vegan etc.

De machinist

Willem Buytewechstraat 45, 3024 BK Rotterdam, Pays-Bas
Hung Kee
Chinese restaurant
Witte de Withstraat 61-B, 3012 BM Rotterdam, Pays-Bas
Altstadt

Aelbrechtskolk 3b, 3025 HA Rotterdam, Pays-Bas
Roopram Roti Rotterdam

Mathenesserplein 89, 3022 LD Rotterdam
Vapiano Binnenrotte (Italian)
Chain for pasta, pizzas, and more. It. is a bit expensive but nicely served. Clean environment. You have to wait for 15 min, but the dishes are tasty, and they have lovely cold teas. I love the pomegranate one.

Çiğköftem (Turkish)
Cheap, vegan-friendly, bulgur kofte. Çiğköfte is a food made with bulgur. They put it in a wrap with veggies. Super fresh and delicious. They also have falafels.

Ortam BBQ (Turkish/Halal)
You pay a fixed price and order your uncooked vegetables via a screen. When you get your order, you can grill it yourself. Every tale has a grill in the middle of the table.

Yellow River Lanzhou (Chinese/Halal)
Chinese restaurant with hand-pulled noodles. You can decide your type of noodle and enjoy it. I love stir-fried beef with medium-sized noodles. Super fresh and tasty.

55 Bombay Street (Indian/vegan/vegetarian)
Authentic Indian food by an Indian family. I love the "Bombay Experience" menu, which gives you a chance to taste Indian cuisine at a reasonable price.

Harvest Coffee Brewers (Coffee/Pastries)
This place is near the water so has a nice view. All coffees are tasty and good. They also have freshly baked pastries and breakfast.

Feedback from Simon:
Why analog?
We considered using QR codes for the reviews, but we lacked the skills necessary to create a messaging system within these codes. To develop an ideal project, we must manage our time effectively. That's why we decided to do an analog project.

How do we create a messaging system in analog?
After the first review, every column of the restaurants will ask you, "if you agree with this comment above?" In that way, you can communicate through the reviews.

Headline Idea

Where Do We Eat?
“Collective Restaurant Archive of the Wdka”

You can check the restaurants, write them reviews and add your favorite restaurants in Rotterdam.

Explanation for the stand:
How nice of you to come and see this book!
The book is made for and by students
of the WDKA.

Are you looking for the nicest and tastiest
restaurants in Rotterdam, do you want
to know where not to go or have you
discovered a new hotspot yourself? Then
you've come to the right place!

How it works:
NEW PLACE:
Have you discovered a new place that you
want to recommend to your fellow students (or not),
take an 'add a restaurant' piece of paper and write
your new place on it! You can easily add these at the
back of the book by opening the rings.

NEW REVIEW:
Do you want to write a review but all places are already
full? Then take out an 'add a review' piece of paper and
write your review here. You can easily add these behind
the restaurant in question by opening the rings.

OPINION ON REVIEW:
Do you strongly agree or disagree with a review?
Then you can let us know by means of the stickers.
The emojis show how you feel about the review /
Thumb up = agree, thumb down = disagree.

Thank you for your contribution! This will help your
fellow students find the best places in Rotterdam!
